Winter in Les Arcs

A new year lies ahead of us and we wish all our clients
                                  a happy and prosperous 2025!

It has been a lively festive season at La Sentinelle.🎄
Our French B&B was decorated in Danish style. At Xmas time we received guests from different countries, also from Denmark. That was - of course - a golden opportunity for Simon to prepare a typical Danish Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

We are busy making plans for 2025. We do, of course, hope as in years gone by to receive many guests but we are also planning several events such as gatherings for groups and creative workshops.

There is once again a growing interest in private lunches and dinners which were popular in Corona time. People who want to celebrate an anniversary or birthday with friends but prefer to avoid having to spend hours in the kitchen gather around the Sentinelle dining table.
Should you be interested to know more about the possibilities for such a lunch or dinner do not hesitate to contact us at La Sentinelle.

In contrast to the northern countries, where January is quite a grey and dull month, Provence has a lot to offer at the beginning of the calendar year. The days are clear and crisp with bright blue skies and there is ample opportunity for hiking, cycling or visiting museums and historic sites. All this without being bothered by the high season crowds.

The Terriers Menhirs are one example of such an interesting historic site. Close to Les Arcs you find this group of menhirs dating from the Neolithic period. Information and a hiking plan are available at La Sentinelle.

Let’s not forget the natural winter wonders: the mimosa and almond tree. If you want to admire the mimosa trees with their yellow pom-pom flowers, take time to drive the Route du Mimosa from Bormes-les-Mimosas to Grasse. In a mild winter flowering starts late January. The same goes for the enchanting almond tree with its beautiful pink flowers.

This time of the year is also renowned for the “black diamond”.The truffle season has its peak in January. Several gastronomic truffle markets with tastings and demonstrations are being organised in villages close to Les Arcs.

Do come and enjoy the winter season in Provence!
